"All of 'em, Any of 'em"
The Palin Mendacity Meter continues to accrue.
(Oh, and Ms. Palin, I didn't choose to be gay. Do you only choose gay friends who think it's a choice?)

Jurrasic Testament?
The excellent polling site Five-Thirty-Eight has an interesting article on how cell-phone-only voters (cell-phonlies?) might be being undercounted in polling--and adjusts projections accordingly.
The Seattle Times, a somewhat-conservative daily paper here, endorses Obama. They endorsed Bush in 2000, but Kerry in 2004.Didion focused on what has been said by all the pundits and television talking heads about Palin: she has a great “story.” McCain, the war hero, has a great “story.” It is a tactic used, she asserted, to “downplay their capacity for trouble.” Condoleezza Rice had a great “story.” Hearkening back to the 2005 confirmation hearings to install her as secretary of state, she said how at the time everyone noted that Rice had great success as provost of Stanford. “It was as if everyone on the Fox News Terror Alert Team had come off the provost beat.”
So, Sarah: exactly when did you tell your family about the offer from McCain?
As Cindy McCain flies in to town to scoop up the P.A.C. money, we're holding a rally protesting the web of lies that is the McCain/Palin campaign in Seattle next Wednesday, September 24th, downtown at Westlake Parkk from 4-7 pm.
Democrats.
Roger Fisher from the rock band Heart has pledged he’ll give the royalties earned from his song Barracuda, being played by Republicans at rallies, straight to the Obama campaign.

Michaelangelo Signorile finds electoral commonality between Arnold and Sarah.
Gosh, it turns out she didn't visit Iraq after all....

I placed a link to my Zazzle store a few weeks ago, but didn't make a lot of noise about it here. But now, with only a few weeks before the election, I thought I'd point out I have a lot of t-shirt and bumpersticker designs available for sale promoting Obama and the Democrats in general.
I was trying to get out from under the gray cloud of bad news about Obama's slide in the polls (reminding myself how flawed said polls are likely to be) by going shopping, something I rarely do. I ran across the following ironic counterpoint of shirts and had to laugh even as I wanted to cry.
(And no, not this week by Charlie Gibson, but December 2006:)
Alaska Business Monthly: We've lost a lot of Alaska's military members to the war in Iraq. How do you feel about sending more troops into battle, as President Bush is suggesting?
Palin: I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq. I heard on the news about the new deployments, and while I support our president, Condoleezza Rice and the administration, I want to know that we have an exit plan in place; I want assurances that we are doing all we can to keep our troops safe. Every life lost is such a tragedy. I am very, very proud of the troops we have in Alaska, those fighting overseas for our freedoms, and the families here who are making so many sacrifices.
Meanwhile, in October of 2007...
Michael Kinsley breaks the ice on the Palin record.
"But, even given the opportunity through repeated questions from reporters, the woman who won “18 million cracks in the glass ceiling” continued to refuse to attack or criticize Palin."
Arianna suggests the fierce urgency of now is, well, now. A time for a little righteous indignation from Obama.
“We’ve got 56 days until the election. How many of them can McCain spend hiding behind Palin’s skirt?” (from here.)WHAT OBAMA ACTUALLY SAID:
Former Secretary of Labor (under Clinton), Robert Reich explains the vetting process--as someone who was once vetted... properly.
Saw this on a walk home from the gym. Not surprising in Liberal Seattle. I only hope the rest of the country is waking up...
"We may be seeing the first woman president. As a Democrat, I am reeling. That was the best political speech I have ever seen delivered by an American woman politician. Palin is as tough as nails.” - Camille Paglia, responding to Sarah Palin's first speech after she was introduced by John McCain in Dayton, Ohio.

Barely back from Denver, I eagerly jumped right back into activism, and spent most of Saturday and part of Sunday registering voters and distributing buttons and signs at Seattle's Bumbershoot Arts Festival. I was surrounded by other eager volunteers, and the level of enthusiasm in Bumbershooters, people eager to register or snag an Obama button, energized us even more. Like the Democratic Convention last week, it was an extremely successful event.
