People sometimes complain to me that I need to write more of my own thoughts on a blog, rather than just link to others'. To make my own point (and continue to prove theirs) I offer this articulate and accurate rant from one of my favorite playwrights.
"As I get older, I don't get more optimistic about where we're going andwhere we'll end up in another 40 years. We make progress but we don'tmake enough progress. We take itty bitty steps then we take 10 giantsteps back. Considering how many of us there are and how much money wehave, we don't have power. We are, in essence, a very passivepopulation....What rights do we have? You tell me. I can't leave mymoney to my lover? I can't leave my house to my lover? That isappalling. That's what pushes my buttons. Why do we put up with it? Thereare so many of us."
